We worked with Capital and Coast District Health Board to implement a Healthy Food policy which came into force in 2013. Following work driven by Regional Public Health, a new healthy food policy has recently been approved covering the provision of food and beverages to staff and visitors at all 3 DHB’s in the greater Wellington region. This policy includes a ban on sugar-sweetened beverages and carbonated beverages in all facilities and vending machines throughout these hospitals. We are working with members of CCDHB and Regional Public Health to support the implementation of this policy at Wellington Hospital.

The HFF Trust is run by a passionate group of health professional volunteers. We are a registered charity formed in 2013 by a group of health professionals who share a concern about the number of overweight children being seen in clinical practice, and who are developing health problems such as type 2 diabetes as a result of their excess weight. Our vision is for all New Zealand children to live in an environment that enables and supports healthy eating and physical activity patterns.
