Registration information will include: sex, age, ethnicity, community, email, and mobile phone number. Your location based on your mobile device will also be captured. You will also be required to use your mobile device’s camera for this application.

Registering with Foodback data collection means that you agree to take part in the collection of data related to your local community food environment through this Foodback smartphone application including 8 different features (‘your supermarket’, ‘your fast food’, ‘your food outlets’, ‘your school food zone’, ‘your hospital, ‘your community, ‘your sport or recreation centres and events’ and ‘your activity environment’).

You accept that no reimbursement of working hours or travel costs will be made for your contribution in this initiative.

You understand that the time you invest in the Foodback initiative for creating healthier food environments is completely up to you.

You are free to withdraw participation at any time and to withdraw any data collected by you from the online web platform. In order to withdraw any data collected by you, you have to send an email request to foodback@auckland.ac.nz.

The data collected by you will be confidential and no personal data and details will be posted on the interactive Foodback website platform. Only summary data on schools, retailers and sport or recreation centres in my community will be accessible.

No identifiable information from participants will be reported in any format, whether through the online web platform, feedback to local stakeholders or through publication of the findings.

You understand that the data collected by you will be kept in order to make comparisons between communities and over time.

You agree not to execute any pressure on schools or retailers to participate in the study and to leave those properties whenever requested to do so.

You will not upload pictures which also have individuals photographed on them. These pictures will be deleted from the database if they contain (parts of) individuals.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Controlling your personal information

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. A small fee will be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to .
