The Foodback systems approach is displayed in the diagram below.
Five New Zealand communities Helensville, Birkenhead, Welcome Bay, Wairoa and Nelson, participated in the initial phase of developing the Foodback initiative.
During this phase residents from each community met with members of the Foodback team to discuss the project, provide feedback, advice and ideas, and pilot test versions of the Foodback app.
